WordPress is a powerful content management system but it can be quite hard for new users of the system to shake of the blog look if you want your site to be taken seriously as a website.

Below are a three helpful tips for any WordPress website.

    Remove or Disable Comments

This is a giveaway that you are using a WordPress Blog and by removing the Post a Comment section at the bottom of every page it would give you a more customized look and feel.

    Remove Tags or Tag Clouds

Tags are keywords that you can add to individual posts in your WordPress dashboard. Tags associated with a particular post allow users to clock on keywords and view further entries related to that keyword. They provide a fantastic SEO benefit and help Google properly categorize pages. However they are associated with the blog so remove these.

Customize your Sidebar & Keep it the Same

By default the sidebar gives away that it’s a WordPress site by using default titles like ‘Categories’ & ‘Archives’. These can be edited through the sidebar.php file in the theme directory. WordPress will display a different sidebar depending on what page of the site you are one. Personal preference is to display the same sidebar on all pages to keep the site look and feel consistent.
