Blackberry is lines of mobile email devices developed by a Canadian company know as Research in Motion (RIM).

The aim is to develop applications that make the full use of the Blackberry mobile device beyond wireless email. This can include content delivery applications, field service applications, CRM applications, time & expenses applications, consumer applications, business to consumer applications and more.

Third party developers can write software in Java using Blackberry APIs, but any application that makes use of restricted functionality must be digitally signed so that it can be associated to a developer account at RIM.

Blackberry also have their own Blackberry App World which distributes application and services by RIM to the majority of Blackberry users.  The Blackberry App World has been known to be unattractive and buggy however reacent improvements have made using the Blackberry App World more enjoyable.

The Blackberry app catalogue is far more smaller then Android and iPhones market however this is a large increasing market as well.
