In my last Blog post I talked about three great WordPress plugins I use on a number of projects. The purpose of these two entries is to show just a few ways to get the most out of WordPress my favourite content management system.

Google XML Sitemaps are important for search engine optimisation as it tells the search engines of all the pages on your website and of any changes made to those pages. Well believe it or not WordPress has a Google XML Sitemap plugin for that as well which creates the sitemap XML file which is complaint with all major search engines & after it updates it pings all of those search engines to let them know of the changes. With this plugin it’s much easier for the crawlers to see the complete structure of your site and retrieve it more efficiently.

The power of viral marketing and using Twitter has increased. I’m not a big fan of Twitter myself but I have to admit I can see the benefits it provides for some of my clients. Twitter Digest is a good plugin as well as this creates a daily or weekly post of tweets.

Contact Forms are important to lead generation and just getting general nice messages back on people complementing your website. Contact Form 7 is another great plugin to use as it can manage multiple contact forms and allows customization as well. The form also supports AJAV powered submission as well as CAPTCHA spam filtering.

The most popular WordPress plugin in the WordPress plugin directory is the All in One SEO Pack. The plugin is amazing at auto generating Meta tags for posts which is great for search engine optimisation. Best thing is that for WordPress newbie’s you don’t even look at the settings as it works straight away once installed.

I would be really interested to hear anyone else who is using any of these plugins and their thoughts on both guides and if anyone else has any great plugins as well?
